Noodling Around

My friends Patricia and Philip know me well. When they see a really interesting cookbook for sale, I’m often the lucky (and grateful) recipient. And they have good taste - especially for food that tastes good! They also understand that cookbooks need to be beautiful as well as practical.

On a brisk, sunny Sunday, Mark and I left our cozy little maisonette in the Garden District of New Orleans and headed into the French Quarter on the St. Charles Streetcar.

Her Name Was NOLA

Actually, her name is JoAnn, and she is the owner of the Upperline Restaurant situated in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, Louisiana, a city also known as NOLA. (I can't get Barry Manilow's "Copacabana" out of my head now...)

The Kindness of Strangers

When Mark and I bought our first home - an 1806 Cape in Kittery, Maine - our realtor brought a tray of goodies to welcome us our first night: champagne, cheese, bread, and a tin of smoked oysters.
