You might think that when the mercury soars above 100°F (38°C), the idea of a hot meal would be unthinkable. Alas, for this cook, it is not.



“I hate tomatoes.” “I loathe mushrooms.” “Ewwwww.... Brussels sprouts?” “Sweet potato casserole is a crime against nature.” “Carrot cake is just plain wrong.” Or, so the haters say.


Memories of Old Santa Fe

In the early 1990s, I took my first trip to Santa Fe with Mikey, my best friend since the 5th grade. I had no idea what to expect, but I knew it would be an adventure.

It is the perfect Memorial Day weekend in Tucson. The sun is shining, the sky is excruciatingly blue, and it isn't too hot. In fact, it's downright pleasant and much cooler than anyone dreams of for this holiday weekend in the desert.
